"...Listen to your life.  See it for the fathomless mystery that it is. In the boredom and pain of it no less than in the excitement and gladness: touch, taste, smell your way to the holy and hidden heart of it because in the last analysis all moments are key moments, and life itself is grace."

Happy mid-summer everyone:

Well things have slowed down for us now that a very busy May and June yielded up some fantastic shows both here and outside of LA our home.  We're buckling down now on the new album project and it's all sounding great.  We're excited about the project and will look forward to sharing it with you all in the coming months.

On the show front we will gear up again in August and go on the road to Northern California for a shared show with our great friends Houston Jones at a new venue for us, St. Cyprian's in San Francisco, and then the next day will be teaching workshops and performing at the Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival put on by the Northern California Bluegrass Society.  Later in August we'll be back to join our friend Brad Colerick at the Firefly Bistro writer's night.  It's a lovely restaurant and the food is tremendous, so if you're in the South Pasadena area come and check it out.

Reminder that copies of "Dear Jean ~ Artists Celebrate Jean Ritchie" will be with me on the road this summer.  These are pre-release copies only available through select artists before the early September official release date from Compass Records.  This double-disk CD project boasts performances from Judy Collins, Pete Seeger, Janis Ian, Kathy Mattea, Tim O'Brien, Suzy Boguss and Alison Brown among many others.  I know it will be a collector's item!  Come see us at a show this summer or just Send me an email:  This email address is being protected from spambots. A retrospective article on the pre-release concert in Berea, Kentucky with Kathy Mattea, John McCutcheon and myself is the subject of my Folkworks article this month.  Check it out at www.folkworks.org.

For those of you in Southern California who enjoyed our Woodshed Sessions at the Coffee Gallery last winter/spring you will be pleased to know that it was such a popular series that we will be returning in September, September 5 to be exact, with more new songs and new LA songwriters to share with you.  Stay tuned for more on this series in next month's newsletter and plan on joining us.  We'll be once a month there through December.  Visit our Show Calendar page for more info on all the great shows coming up.

Thanks for reading, pals ~ keep in touch and stay cool through a great summer!
